Scope of works: Oliver Connell & Son Ltd were appointed to carry out the enabling works followed by groundworks, RC Frame and external works. This building will be used for medical research with a 50/50 split on office and lab space. To accelerate the build OCS introduced a swift formwork and rebar placement system. The soffits are formed using Ischebeck tables and all rebar is prefabricated off site and delivered to site on a ‘just on time’ basis. This optimises storage space around site as rebar is never stored on the ground. The scheme consists of various concrete finishes from standard pan finishes to special finishes such as ply board layouts. OCS provided a static pump and placing boom to place concrete on the upper levels which will in turn free up the crane for tables and rebar install. The works onsite were completed in December 2022.
